I am working on a new MUD and noticed that the out of the box combat system is really over powered and I am trying to figure out how to make adjustments....the way things are currently written it is very easy to reach 100% proficiency and a level 50 character with regular weapons can do 300 points of damage...how can I fix these issues

Thanks

Mitch

My suggestion if you're looking to change that without coding is to limit and not allow 100% in skills. There are way too many calls for extra damage when you start maxing things.

weapon proficienies
enhanced damage
strength bonuses
difference in level bonuses
race bonus
class bonus
Dexterity bonus

I'm sure there are more that I haven't even found yet.
It's a mess. And the numbers for the bonuses are a bit much. Honestly, no idea how muds that use THAC0 have lasted this long. I'm going to end up rewriting it all so there is balance between classes/levels/npcs/!npcs/races and squash the THAC0 menace once and for all.
