Are SMAUG area files compatible with ROM ones?
What I'm trying to do: set up an OLC mud on my local Windows machine so I can write areas for the mud I play. It is an old ROM...but the Imms have written an area editor that will load ROM 2.4 areas.
Windows ROM doesn't seem to come with OLC, so I'm wondering if the area files are identical (or nearly) between ROM and SMAUG. I do not need mob programs, just rooms, resets, mobs, and objects. | Top |

| I'm pretty sure they are not. You may be able to write code that converts them though. |

| The area editor available from this site reads both ROM and SMAUG area files (stock format) and can write out the other format. So, you could use it to convert area files. Be aware that each format has different variables in it, so you will be discarding some information if you convert. |
