I tried various ways to setup my news and event files under various faqs i have read for Pennmush...but they dont seem to show up. I have tried the solutions but I dont have a perl compiler for my nt machine.

There was a bug that if the news file had an initial blank line the whole file would be omitted. Check that isn't the case. It definitely can be made to work.

Oh yes, I forgot about that. What good editor programs are out there for win32, that I can see where the CRs are?

I finally got @readcache to see one of the files but soon after it locked up.

Is there any plans to create a editor or perhaps a program that will convert text files for Pennmush to read for win32?

You have a few options here.

First, I wrote a program, freely available, called Unix2Dos, which converts Unix text files to DOS ones, which you can then edit with any Windows editor.

This is at ftp://ftp.gammon.com.au/pennmush/unix2dos.zip

Second, having done that conversion (which is just a command-line program, so you could open a "command" window and just type: unix2dos *.nws ) you could edit the files with a normal text editor, for example, Notepad.

Third, other editors abound, many of which will convert Unix files as well. I use UltraEdit, which you can get from http://www.ultraedit.com
