| Umm..
Does the mud have permission to write to the player
directory? Try checking the code that does "void
do_save".

| The answer to this is in the SMAUG FAQ - Players cannot save their characters.
This is really a question about using SMAUG, not about using the Area Editor. :) |

| I am having a similar problem with saving. Im running SMAUG on Windows XP (at the moment, im planing a swap to RedHat soon) and my players wont save when the save command is issued. I have all the player folders as mentioned in the FAQ. For some reason, they save the very first time but not any other time. The temp save file is written in the system folder but it is only transfered to the player folder on irregular intervals. Any advice on how to tackle this problem? | Top |

| Which SMAUG are you using (download name)? It sounds like the old rename issue. Are you using Cygwin or the precompiled version? |

| No I'm not using Cygwin It's the precompiled Win32 version.
The file I downloaded is "winsmaug1.4a.zip". | Top |

| I don't have a file of that name on this site. You must have got that from someone who hasn't fully fixed the problem with saving. Try the "downloads" link above for one of my versions. |

| OK, problem solved thanks very much.
I decided to run the server under Cygwin and now everything works fine! | Top |
