| Every time I try to save a file or check an area (btw, those were the only commands I've tried so far that do that for me) the area editor crashes. It preforms an illegal error and just shuts off.
Please help,

| Have you got the latest version? Which version do you have?
Which area do you have problems with? It works fine with the stock areas. Try a stock area first. If it only happens with your own area you might want to email me a copy so I can try it. |

| This is what happens:
Open Area editor, go file->new, go file->save and it crashes. This is what the details on the error screen say in case they might mean something to you:
AREAEDITOR caused an invalid page fault in

| You haven't said which version you have.
In my version (the latest - 1.30) you can't do a File->Save after File->New. You have to do File->Save As.
Also, it doesn't crash when I do that. |

| I got version 1.30, and I meant save as. I don't know what it is, I've restarted my computer to see if that helps but it didn't. I just always get that illegal error screen and that kinda sucks.
I'll try it out on a different computer to see if that's something, but aside from that this really sucks cause I need to use this for a mud :P

| Another thing. I can save and do all the things needed to when I open up that manor file that came with the editor.
It just seems that I can't make a new one :P
Or is it that you have to actually code something before you can save it?
The ever confused,

| As I said before, I created a new area and saved it immediately without a crash.
However I would try it after adding a mob or something and see if that helps.
Maybe you have a bad download? |

| Doubt it was a bad down load. I got a copy with the mud the owner of the mud sent me, and I also downloaded a copy from here. But, adding a room fixed it and I was able to work with it.
Also just wonderng, is there a list of what the functions of the various flags do? The owner of the mud is new to smaug it seems aswell (I'm used to nightmare muds myself) and it's kinda hard to do stuff when you dont know what half of it does :P All I can see for smaug at the moment is that it seems to be based off AD&D.
Excuse my newbyish knowledge,

| A lot of the flags are documented inside SMAUG itself (eg. as an immortal, type WIZHELP, and then get help of the various commands and flags).
Also, see the SMAUG links at the top of the forum sections for running the server.
I don't know what they all do myself, when I wrote the area editor I implemented the flags that I found in SMAUG, without necessarily knowing what they did in the server itself. |
