If I exit my shell, the Smaug goes down. Same with any other program I try running via the shell. And yes, I do use the & token. Can someone please help?

nohup ./startup &
The nohup part tell it "no hangup" when you exit your shell.

In other words, cd src, then do
nohup ./startup &
then you can exit your shell.
nohup ./startup &
then you can exit your shell.
