Alright. Trying to connect to a MUD from school, I connected to it just fine last year. They made a few network changes this year regarding blocking programs/ports, and wondering what I could do to fix it. Some muds work, and some don't. One of the few MUDs I can connect to is here - bb14.betterbox.net 3333. Most of the ones I'm having trouble with is LIMA, but picking random MUDs off of the TMC, none of them worked. Anyone know what the problem may be/how to fix it?
How to fix a 10061 error...

What ports are the 'random ones' using, for the most part? Your school may have blocked port 4000 for some reason. The best would be to get in touch with your network admins and see what happened to the network.
Yes, the problem is the network admin has blocked some ports, and most MUDs use those ports.
Sounds like they have let through 3333 for some reason, probably some feature provided by an organisation that they want to support.
To fix it might be hard, we presume they blocked those ports for a reason. However if the reason was to stop massive multimedia games playing you might be able to contact the admins and let text MUDs through, especially if you specify a single port (eg. 4000).
