doors

I have a question about doors. When a door is closed, it is not listed in the 'obvious exits' - is there a way to change it so that it would be listed and say something like "east - closed" so they would know that they would have to open it.

Also, i'm using the OLC, and when i set an exit description using exdesc, and then i look in the direction of the exit, it tells me the exdesc, but then under it, it gives the description of the room the exit leads to. Why is that?

Thanks for all the help!

thanks, that helps a lot

Does anyone have an answer to my second question- is it possible to change it so when you type 'look north' it just gives you the exdesc, not the room description and the obvious exits from THAT room?

Hrm, given the fact that such is NOT part of the "normal" exit setup, what flags do you have on the exit?

I was in the room- i typed "redit exflags east", and this is what came up:

Build: Wonko: redit exflags e
Flags for exit direction: 1 Keywords: Key: -1
[ isdoor ]

There is just supposed to be a door there- it was open at the time that i typed "redit exflags e"

i typed 'look east' and this came up:

The Lobby of Wonko's Office
The Lobby
This is the Lobby for Wonko's office. You cannot teleport, astral, or
use and means of getting here other than walking. Going up would take
you to Wonko's Office
Exits: west up

thanks again

I may be wrong, but if you're an imm doens't it always show you the description of the next room when you 'look' into it? Sorta like permanent scrying or something like that? Just something you might check. Try looking from one room to the next using a non-immortal player and see if that makes a difference.
