splitting up areas into worlds/sector/etc

i was wondering if anyone has seen a snippet for dividing smaug areas up into different sections.. if not.. maybe an idea where to start... having multiple worlds/sections and setting what area goes where online using aset.. just need soemthign to start with pretty much :p
