Logging

I'm having a logging problem -- log files seem to never be created. Logging is enabled, the directory is properly set. I have the filename specified as 'logfile', and am using no preamble.

I'm using version 3.32 on Win XP.

You say logging is enabled. You mean automatic logging? Try clicking on Browse and selecting a full pathname. Maybe you don't have permission to write in the directory it is trying to use.

Also, try turning logging on manually (File Menu -> Log Session) and see what happens.

I've tried using browse, which requires you to also select or type in a filename. It will log for one session. I've tried manually starting a log, which acts similarly.

What I'm trying to do is have a logfile with a name such as

WorldName-Date-Time.txt

be created each login. I had this working before on Win98, but I have a new PC now and haven't been able to make it work the same.

Hmm, not sure why, but it works now, I just re-set all the options basically.

Hmm, still have a problem. It just randomly stopped working. Let me tell you what the situation is currently.

Under logging options"
Log output: checked
Log commands: unchecked
Log notes: unchecked
HTML: unchecked
Write world name to log file is checked
Automatically log to this file: mudname-%a-%d-%b-%Y.txt
No pre/postamles or other options used.

When I open Mushclient and connect to the mud, automatically the following are in effect:

- Right-click menu has a check next to log session. Click on it to uncheck pops up a box asking, "Close log file mudname-Thu-16-Jan-2003.txt?"

- File / Log Session has the same option checked. Clicking it causes the same response.

When I check the directory I have logs set to go into, there is no log there. This is windows XP, not using any special permissions or security.

Conceivably it isn't going to the right directory. Try putting the path into the actual file name, eg.

Automatically log to this file: c:\mud-logs\mudname-%a-%d-%b-%Y.txt

(Of course, make sure that directory exists).
