When a player of level 4+ kills the cage gnolls in the academy, a pixie will appear, give them a magic item and tell them to take it to the shopkeeper. Giving the item to the shopkeeper does nothing. Is this supposed to be a red herring to mess with higher levels in the newbie grounds or is something actually supposed to happen?
Darkhaven Academy pixie quest, broken?

I'm not sure, maybe you have to say something instead of giving it to him? Have you tried mpstat'ing the mob if you're an Imm?
The storekeeper has no mob programs set.
What's his mob vnum?
If he doesn't have any progs, then he won't do anything with it. Maybe it was implied to sell it?

The storekeepers vnum is 21029. The script for the pixie is quoted here for a different question http://www.gammon.com.au/forum/bbshowpost.php?bbsubject_id=2955
'mfind deren' returns nothing. I can only assume at this point that whoever wrote darkhaven academy did not put in the storekeeper script to handle the turnin. Has anyone else does anything with this? And by all emans, if I'm missing something, please tell me.

Yeah, I also tried 'mfind deren', but didn't find any. I had assumed that was because I was missing some stock areas. I guess that mob/quest was never finished. Are you looking to finish it, but don't know how?
In the version they uploaded as the smaug base, it was incomplete. Originally the storekeep gives you a map to a good low level area (Pixie forst I think), but they didn't complete it and so its just a half-finished program.
Deren is the storekeeper located one up and one east from the academy headmistress. He had a prog to handle that quest in older versions of smaug, but it seems to have been stripped from smaug somewhere back around version 1.02 or so. *shrug*
