I'm using Crossover to run MUSHclient v5.06 on my Macbook Pro, and I'm having trouble reading the small type. How do you adjust the font size?

World configuration (Alt+Enter) -> Appearance -> Output -> Click "Font" button and then choose a font and size from the font picker.

You may have to un-check "Override with default" if it is checked.

Thanks, for the response. I've tried what you recommended but without success.

I should mention that I'm using the Discworld MUSHclient, which has several configurable plugins. Adjusting the font size through the Output and unchecking "Override with default" only affects the plugin windows, not the main MUSHclient window. And the Wine Configuration tool allows me to change the screen resolution but not the font size. Right clicking in the main window doesn't give the option to change the font size either.

Well, it should work. Maybe what looks like the output window is really a plugin, and you would have to configure that.

When you RH-click on what looks like the output window (where the MUD text is displayed) do you see a menu like this?

Yes, that's what I see when right-clicking on the main MUD login window.

The plugin windows have a different right-click menu, including a "Change Font" option, and the World configuration -> Appearance -> Output options likewise only affect the plugin windows.

In a sense, there is no such thing as a plugin window.

Plugins may create so-called Miniwindows which are described here: http://gammon.com.au/mushclient/mw_intro.htm

The fonts and sizes used there are totally under control of the plugin script.

The plugin windows would not be affected by those options, unless they are polling for changes to the world output configuration.

If you disable all plugins, you will see that what I say is true. I'm not sure what Discworld are doing with their plugins, but I assure you that the World configuration -> Appearance -> Output options are the place to change the size of the font in the output window.

I understand. I tried again, increasing the font size from 14 to 16pt but it looks exactly the same, and increasing it to 18pt only just stretches it out while the size remains unchanged.

I see there are options to adjust the spacing as well as the
"output buffer size," to "adjust width to size" or "adjust size to width." Would either of them affect it?

What you're describing doesn't make any sense to me. What font are you using?

No. Those settings are unrelated.

Sorry for the confusion. I'd confused myself in my haste to adjust the font sizes in every window, setting each one to the same size, and mistakenly believed that the one affected the other.

I have noticed that when working with Wine, if the font is very small, a small change is hard to notice. And indeed, the font renderer might render it the same. Try a big jump, like 30 point.

Also try a different monospaced font, like Fira Code.

Given that switching to new font worked, I wonder if perhaps you just didn't have the previous font actually installed in your system and so you were getting a substitution, which might ignore size settings. The microsoft corefonts package doesn't come with wine by default. It has to be installed separately (can be done through winetricks).
