| I compiled Smaug 1.8b under Cygwin.
Followed the NOCRYPT = -DNOCRYPT and
edited the is_profane function in act_com.c as per instructions.
It compiled cleanly, and then I did a ./startup 4000
It connects, then when trying to log in:
The game is wizlocked. Only immortals can connect at this time.
Please try back later ...
So I'm rather new to cygwin in general, and coding, and Smaug, so what do you have to do to make it non wizlocked or just be able to log in?
I edited the 'Edmond' file in gods and put level 65, but that didn't work either, booted me right out.

| If you login as an Immortal, you should be able to get past the wizlock message.
Make sure you edit the pfile, and not just the god file. |

| I don't think it comes with a pfile, the only thing that exists in the dist is a file named "Edmund" in the gods directory.
It contains the following lines:
Level 65
Pcflags 1081402
That's pretty much it.
And I can't log it in, and it won't let me create a new character either because it is wizlocked. :) | | Top |

By what name are you known (or "new" to create a new character): new
Choosing a name is one of the most important parts of this game...
Make sure to pick a name appropriate to the character you are going
to role play, and be sure that it suits a medieval theme.

another one.

| Yes, I don't know either, but I found where it comes from!
I was able to browse a search engine and it seems it's a setting that comes with the stock for some reason, anyhow here is the solution:
Open the file sysdata.dat in /system
change the line:
Wizlock 1
to
Wizlock 0
That will do it. :)
