Anyway, it is impossible for us to debug this without some idea of where the problem is. I suggest you read my post about using gdb:

I think you can use gdb even under Cygin without problems. You want to start up using gdb, like this:
cd area # go to the area directory
gdb ../src/smaug.exe # debug it
Type "run" to start things off, and then try connecting. |
