two suggestions: commands and triggers

1. A function like setcommand without the limitation of the command line
being empty.
I could write an accelerator that would push
a word - e.g. a long name, a part of a command, etc
onto a command line, no matter whether it had
anything on it or not - and if it had something, the text
would be inserted at the cursor.

2. a tree view for triggers/aliases/etc - scrolling down a large list of
triggers can be very annoying - especially if the group feature
exists already - this sounds like a perfect use for
a tree view.

I have put your first suggestion into version 3.69 - see the release notes for details.

Changing the triggers view sounds like a lot of work. :) You know you can sort into groups by clicking on the groups column, that at least organises them together for you.

Also, if you have lots of triggers you can put some into plugins to make the main window less cluttered.
