I can't seem to figure out how to save my world settings. I go to Save World Details, but when I exit and reconnect, everything is gone, aliases, triggers, etc.

Are you opening the file you saved? Check its date/time modified.

Can you clarify a bit:

  • Which version of MUSHclient are you using?
  • Do you create a new world, add some triggers (but not marking them as "temporary"), then do File -> Save?
  • After doing this, how do you open the world again? Using the File menu? Can you Alt+Enter before opening the file to check it was created a few seconds ago?

The only three reasons I can think of why this would happen is:

  1. You didn't save the world file (a while ago I think someone was saving the triggers individually but not the whole world). Also I think that if the file name has funny characters in it, then the save can silently fail (due to a Windows bug). Check the date/time modified of the world file.

  2. You are opening a different file later on. Perhaps one of the same name, but in a different directory.

  3. The changes you made were all marked as temporary (and thus would not be saved).

I made triggers and aliases, not marked at temporary. I went to File> Save World Details As> named it AV and saved it to a location.

Tried importing those settings, and they weren't there.

I asked three questions, and you answered one of them. I can't help you if you don't help me.

  • Which version of MUSHclient are you using? No reply
  • Do you create a new world, add some triggers (but not marking them as "temporary"), then do File -> Save? You said you used "File> Save World Details As>"
  • After doing this, how do you open the world again? No reply

I also asked: "Are you opening the file you saved? Check its date/time modified." No reply

You said you "Tried importing those settings" - do you mean you used File -> Open? Or did you use File -> Import?

See this recent forum post:

There is some debate about which the latest version is. All I am asking is that you go to the MUSHclient Help menu -> About MUSHclient, and write down the version number (eg. 4.24).

It shouldn't take about 3 requests to get you to reply with a number.

You are really supposed to simply do a File -> Open World to get your settings back next time, not import them into a new file. Why not just do that?

However I found that if I made a new world with Quick Connect, and did a File -> Import -> Import from File, I also get my triggers and aliases back, so I don't know what you are doing there.

well if you had said go to Help > About in the first place, it probably wouldn't have taken three attempts to understand you overly vague instructions. In any case, I'm using version 4.19

Every time you start MUSHclient it shows the version number on the splash screen, and every time you open or create a new world it displays this (or similar, depending on the version):

Welcome to MUSHclient version 4.24!
