If I edit/create spells in AE, are the changes recognised by smaug, or do I have to recompile and all that stuff?

Skills, spells etc. edited in the Area Editor should be recognised next time you start SMAUG. Changes to those files (including area files) do not require recompilation.

Ok, yes I found that out after I closed AE. Thanks Nick.

Here's a question: I see the Gate spell summons a guardian Vampire. Does that mean there's a pointer to that MOB, and is it the same vampire lounging in the Limbo area?

I want to create a spell that summons something else (another MOB), but not sure what to do to accomplish this. I've looked at the Gate spell and can't see anything obvious. Sounds like I have to change some code.

I'm not sure either. This is really a general SMAUG question - the Area Editor only simplifies things that you do in SMAUG, which I not an expert on all aspects of.

Ok, point taken. I'll look around for help files. Thanks.
