| Ok..got an oddity that is not really important...It's just AH-NOY-ING as all get out!
First, minor tech setup.. Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-Bit (Updated from Vista).
24-28" monitor...So my Wrap to Column has been <since about version ummm 4.70 or so, if not a little earlier :)> setting at 237. Now however, since 4.73 and using the timestamp plugin, I've adjusted it the 10-14 spaces the '00:00:00 XM>] ' takes up. <14 spaces, knocking y column wrap from 237 to 224 - 223>
However, every so often <like when I initially log into the world, and every so often in the middle of things.. I'll notice the descriptions, etc scrolling off the edge of the screen and not shifting the way they're supposed to..
Example:
<snip> Luxurious carpets are laid out on the polished h|
floors., defining living and play areas. <snip>
The | denotes the edge of the output buffer... here's the missing section(s) ' polished hardwood floors,' it ate about 7 characters, From the beginning of the room description to the space after polished is 223 characters.
I'd like to know *why* my Wrap output at column number: [...] keeps changing like it is.
Here's the rundown of the Output options I have (just going to mention the checked boxes):
Show line Info, Auto Pause, New Activity flashes taskbar, Auto-wrap to window size, Alt. Inv/highlight disp., show conn/disconn.
Under font: Fixedsys 9pt with italic and underline. and text offset from edge as well as line spacing are both 0.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. | Top |

| Well that's not 223 characters. Can you paste in an actual example? |

| Here you go Nick.. Not exactly what you asked for...or at least not in the way one might normally do it :)
This is a link to a .swf video file <easily playable in IE at the very least>.. I used Jing <jingproject.com> to make it. The Free version only allows a 5 minute video.. I'm not brave enough to add voice so it's a "Silent Movie" I used sendthisfile.com to upload the file and sent the link to my own email and posted it.. The file will remain available for 3 days before automatically deleting itself.
Vid contents summary: Like your MUSHclient tutorials on Youtube, shows opening MC, opening at least one of my characters, showing the Output screen from world properties, then logging in and what I see, then changing the word wrap column a little shorter and looking at the room once again to show the difference. <plus the question of "Why is it doing this" thrown up onto the screen>
File link: https://www.sendthisfile.com/vRRJdckzRIDqkopDwNvoGCfY
Hope this can get an answer.
PS: Yes, I know that Negotiate about window size is unchecked...it WAS checked before, and didn't seem to make a difference.
Also, even after adjusting all of my characters window sizes to take into account the 12-14 spaces of the TimeStamp length and saving the worldfile, whenever I close the world and reopen it, it auto resets to the full 237 length <If nothing else, I'll provide another flash video file showing that as well.> | Top |

| I can't play that file on my Mac. All I wanted was you to copy the offending line from the output window and paste it here so I could try it myself. |

...that figures...Well one moment then..
Here you go... the entirety of the thing:
The inside of the townhouse is spacious, open and airy. Wide windows in the living room overlook the central courtyard, revealing the play of water in the sculptured fountain. Luxurious carpets are laid out on the polished hardwood floors, defining living and play areas on either side of an open hearth that serves as a fireplace for both areas. A well-appointed kitchen lies beyond a half-height wall that doubles as a breakfast bar, fronted with four painted wood stools. A flight of stairs leads up to the second story, with a master bedroom suite, a second guest room suite and a luxurious, full bath.
The output window doesn't allow me to copy the timestamp IT puts in front, but at the beginning of each line it reads:
'00:00:00PM> ' <minus '
So, with the timestamp the first line cuts off at '... polished h "{ardwood} <- indicating what's scrolling out of view on the screen.
A few other options is, if you WOULD like to view the file, you can go here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/swfflvplayer.html and get the mac .swf & .flv player.. Or I can even send snapshots of my desktop as well. <I may anyways, just to be on the safe side and cover all bases.>
https://www.sendthisfile.com/2dQRetyFLKdcvENgcPyFGij8 <- link to 2 zipped pics of Desktop showing mushclient screen at 237 col /w timestamp on, and after editing to 'compensate' for timestamp plugin. <again, file will auto-delete in 3 days. <This way, you have a direct cut & paste of the text, a link to a program that will let you view swf files in the future if you like, and images <with arrows/highlights to show.> ... a veritable variety of options to choose from to view and verify.
Hope at least ONE of these helps to clear all this up.
BTW, before I forget again.. LOVE the program Nick! Wonderful work creating it! Relatively simple to use, yet having expandable power to grow into as one's knowledge/skill improves. (Now to work out a way to build a Map for "This" game *grin*) <no mobs and things to kill/attack, more of a social RPG, but a rather large 'world'> {18+ Adult Content}

Quote: whenever I close the world and reopen it, it auto resets to the full 237 length You have auto wrap to window size checked. Your line wrap setting is always reset to 237.
Nick, the bug appears to just be that activating the timestamp options doesn't take the timestamp width into account when deciding where to wrap.
Also there's a bug in the timestamps plugin itself. It needs an OnPluginClose() function that calls OnPluginDisable. It was a little annoying to remove the plugin and see the timestamps still active. |

Now that I've seen the screenshot, I have to say it looks like "not a bug" - unless I misunderstand what you are saying.
It simply looks like it is truncating if you move the edge of the screen over. I can easily emulate that by grabbing the screen side and just resizing it smaller.
It is not supposed to wrap at screen edge, it wraps after X characters where X is 237 in your case. There is no check whether that is actually visible for your selected screen size and font.
And using the timestamps plugin is simply eating into your available space, so you just need to size the number of characters down to compensate.

Oh I see, you have this checked:

I think that is (possibly incorrectly) not allowing for the timestamps. I would turn that off and manually adjust it. Meanwhile I'll see if I can make that take the timestamps width into account. |

| Looking into it a bit further I don't think I can automatically compensate for timestamps width, because that can vary. Since you can put things into timestamps like the time (which might change from 12:00 to 1:00) and other variable-width stuff, it might be impossible to work out how much to allow. So if you are going to use timestamps you are best off unchecking the auto-resize option and just choose a suitable size.
What you could do if you like the auto-resizing is make a plugin to effectively simulate that. You can have a plugin callback that gets called on a window resize:
function OnPluginWorldOutputResized ()
-- do something here
end -- function
That could do a few calculations to work out a new size based on your current font, and subtract the correct number to allow for the timestamps. |

Fiendish, sorry I must have skipped your explanation, which is totally correct.
It's not totally a bug, the width of the timestamp can vary. Also the input, output, and note timestamps can have different widths.
Also I agree about the closing, no-one else reported that. :)
Fixed in version 4.74.
