(Is this the right place to post suggestions on the forum code?)

I think that the topic list of the forum could be made more compact. I'm talking about this page:

http://www.gammon.com.au/forum/bbshowpost.php?bbsection_id=1

I think that that information would be better displayed in a <TABLE> (like the subject list inside a topic); right now I can't even see all of the topics in one screen (800x600 resolution). It would fit on one screen if a table was used.

Also, how about including a checkbox for subscribing to the subject in the form where I post a message? This way I don't have to go click "Subscribe" right after I post the message.

Good idea. As soon as I get the forum software on my PC under version control (CVS) in the next couple of days, I'll do that. :)

I have added the "subscribe" check box, as you suggested, and removed one blank line from the topics list. See what you think of that. If still no good, I can turn it into a table, although I would be interested to hear if anyone else likes it as it is, or, would like it changed as you suggest.

I have now altered the appearance of the top two listings (section list, topic list) to use a table, as you suggested, and not a list.

This makes them more compact, and perhaps, easier to use. :)
