You can elect to see all new threads (subjects) on the forum. This can be chosen instead of subscribing on a topic-by-topic basis.

Once you have done this, you will be notified whenever someone starts a new thread (new subject). Then once you have read that initial post, you can subscribe to it if you think it is interesting enough to read any subsequent posts on that topic.

To do this, view your user profile, and check "Notify on new subject", and then save it.
