| How do you exit editing mode in OLC?
When I type redit, I can't lead the editting mode, so when I type commands they think it's for the editor.
For example, if i type l to look, it will tell me that a flag has been set.
I need to know how to exit editing mode and get back into the game. | Top |

| Actually, no.
Is his editor easier to use than OLC that is added to a MUD? As in, using an area editor in the MUD? | Top |

| Well I was asking because this is in the Area Editor section.
So you are using just Rom, right? If so, you should have to type something like "off" or "done" to exit. |

| But to answer your other question, yes, as long as you're using stock rom/smaug, Area Editor is easier to use than the OLC generally, though it's got some limitations, but it's also got some major perks. It's an offline editor that does a great job and even includes spell checking, but if you've modified your codebase (added/removed flags, changed area file format, changed the reset system, etc.) you may not be able to use it. Also to use it you're doing all your editing offline which means that once you're done editing, you upload your area file to the server and hotboot/reboot to bring the changes online - on in the case of a new area, after uploading it to the server add it's name to your area.lst file then hotboot/reboot to bring it online.
I can't answer your primary question because I don't know rom, but one would hope that it'd be in a helpfile of some sort or a syntax message for the editor itself. In smaug it's /a to abort editing and /s to save your edits. |
