dude... i don't mean to be a pain, but I'm kinda dense :) I you lost me sometime around putting a breakpoint in line 155 of the player.c file

OK, first question - what operating system are you using?

Next, are you using a precompiled version of PennMUSH or are you compiling it yourself (eg. under Cygwin).

Third, you said you followed the FAQ about the God password and it didn't work. In what way did it not work?

Precompiled PennMUSH

Ok, I changed the line it said to what I wanted my password to be and when I went to log on, the game said I had the wrong password.

Sounds like you might need the encrypted version. What I suggest you do is create a new character (eg. "fred") and then find him at the end of the database. Look up the password (the encrypted one) and copy it with your text editor to the place where the password is for your God character, and then you will know the password for God.
